Lima 2019: Pan American Torch travels half of its journey

13:15 | Lima, Jul. 15.

The Pan American Torch continues its journey across Peru and its symbolic flame has travelled through 12 cities so far: Cusco, Juliaca, Puno, Moquegua, Arequipa, Nazca, Ica, Ayacucho, Huancayo, Cerro de Pasco, Huanuco, and Tingo Maria.

Each city offered the best they had, including parties, dances, performances and regional art, thus providing moving and unforgettable moments.

The breathtaking and impressive citadel of Machu Picchu in Cusco, the magnificent Colca Canyon in Arequipa, the overview of Sleeping Beauty Mountain in Tingo Maria, and the mysterious Nazca Lines have been some of the stops on the relay route.

On the other hand, more than a hundred people have served as torchbearers during the journey.

It must be noted many other cities will be visited in the coming days, including Tarapoto, Piura, Trujillo, Chiclayo, and Huaraz.

Joy and excitement will be palpable. It is only a matter of time before the torch crosses the entire the country, bringing the Games to citizens throughout the territory.
