The Pan American Torch continues its way across Peru and its burning flame has so far visited 12 cities including Cusco, Juliaca, Puno, Moquegua, Arequipa, Nazca, Ica, Ayacucho, Huancayo, Cerro de Pasco, Huanuco, and Tingo Maria.

Each city offered the best of itself, including parties, dances, performances and regional art, thus providing moving and unforgettable moments.

The torch relay is currently in Bagua Grande (since July 17) and will make subsequent stops in Piura (July 19), Chiclayo (July 20), Cajamarca (July 21), Trujillo (July 22), Huaraz (July 23), Callao (July 25), before arriving at the National Stadium in Lima on July 26 during the Pan American Games opening ceremony.

The breathtaking and impressive citadel of Machu Picchu in Cusco, the magnificent Colca Canyon in Arequipa, the overview of Sleeping Beauty Mountain in Tingo Maria, and the mysterious Nazca Lines have been some of the stops on the route.

On the other hand, more than a hundred people have served as torchbearers during the journey.

The flame has been passed from hand to hand since it was lit in Teotihuacan (Mexico).

The Lima 2019 Pan American Games will begin as soon as the torch reaches the Peruvian capital on July 26 and come to an end on August 11. The Parapan American Games will take place from August 23 to September 1.
