The Government of Japan, through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) program, will finance five major infrastructure projects in Ayacucho, Junin, Apurimac, and Lima.
On behalf of the Peruvian Government, APCI CEO Jose Antonio Gonzalez expressed gratitude for the donation and emphasized this year marks the 120th anniversary of Japanese immigrants' arrival in Peru.
For his part, Monsignor Salvador Piñeiro, as chairman of Caritas Ayacucho —one of the beneficiary institutions— explained the Japanese Government's financing will improve the quality of life of 68 farming families from Tambo district with the recovery of agricultural lands to increase their crops.

Introduced in 1989, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) program has benefited sectors like education, health, agriculture, sanitation, generation of employment, artisanal fishing, environment, and disaster prevention.
A total of 379 projects —worth US$27,146,181— were approved until 2015.
Eligible recipients include local, provincial, and regional governments, national and international NGOs with a minimum of three years of experience, and non-profit associations.
The grant amount per project cannot exceed 10 million yen.
The program focuses on projects that address people's basic needs, produce community benefits, and seek to reduce the social gap.
