The 125 Catholic temples situated in Lima Metropolitan Area will be allowed to open at 80% capacity to conduct religious ceremonies during Holy Week.

Introduced by the Archbishopric of Lima, the measure aims to avoid crowds and reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

In statements to Andina news agency, Communications Director at the Archbishopric of Lima Juan Jose Dioses remarked that the vaccination certificate with three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will also be required to enter temples.

Moreover, attendees will need to wear two face masks or a KN95 mask, sanitize their hands before entering the premises, and maintain physical distancing of at least one meter from others.

On the other hand, Dioses called on the faithful to visit temples complying with all biosafety protocols in a responsible manner.

"We must remember that these celebrations must be held in ventilated areas or, if possible, outdoors so as to increase the capacity limit on said events," he pointed out.
