Peru has received support from the Guatemalan Government for the institutional process that has been taking place in the South American country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Wednesday.

The event took place within the framework of the seventh summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which takes place in the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires.

On its official media channels, the government agency reported that Guatemala had "reiterated its Government's support for the institutional process in Peru."

Similarly, both ministers "agreed to deepen the bilateral agenda and work jointly to expand relations between the Andean Community of Nations and the Central American Integration System."

Peruvian position

Last Tuesday, Minister Gervasi delivered a speech at the forum of countries gathered at this summit.

Within this framework, she said the Peruvian Government hopes that "the regional community will reject any measure aimed at violating the stability and democratic institutionalism in the country, as well as the use of the indiscriminate violence and acts of vandalism."

"The agreement among our 33 countries must be conducted with pragmatism, solidarity, and full respect for our internal processes, based on our shared agenda," the Peruvian representative expressed.
