The
has reported that on November 2-3 intergovernmental negotiations between Peru and Germany on cooperation for development were held in the city of Berlin.
At said meetings, the Government of Germany committed to allocating a total of €229 million (about US$230 million) for the execution of bilateral technical and financial cooperation in 2022 and 2023.
Accession to OECD
Likewise, the host country's Government recognized that, thanks to the approach to this group of best-consolidated economies around the world, Peru is creating structural prerequisites for a healthy and transparent economic development —based on the rule of law and respect for public policies.
The German Government underlined that it will accompany and continue to support Peru in the process of accession to the
OECD, the PCM specified in a press release.
For its part, the Peruvian Government reaffirmed that State modernization, fight against corruption, territorial development, and fight against violence constitute central reforms of
OECD recommendations and contribute to the fulfillment of sustainable development goals.
Similarly, it expressed its commitment to support the described reforms, considering the challenges that will be faced due to the upcoming succession of regional and local authorities.
Governance and regional development
On the issue of good governance for sustainable regional economic development, the German Government allocated €7 million (about US$7.05 million) for Peru to design and implement public policies aimed at boosting competitiveness, revitalizing the economy, as well as promoting the closing of gaps in infrastructure and access to public services at regional level.
It also allocated €3 million (about US$3.02 million) to Peru for the project titled "Promoting Compliance with OECD Recommendations to improve the Performance of Public Institutions in Peru," and thus achieve modern public administration under OECD international standards, which contribute to improving the quality of public services.
