Francisco Morales sworn in as Chair of Peru's Constitutional Court

Judge Francisco Morales Saravia has been sworn in as Chair of the Constitutional Court (TC) in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the institution.

In addition, Luz Pacheco Zerga assumed the position of Deputy Chair of the TC, whereas Helder Dominguez Haro became the General Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies (CEC).

The authorities were elected during a plenary session held at 10:30 a.m. (local time), while the swearing-in ceremony took place at the Courtroom of the TC headquarters in Lima.

Morales succeeds Augusto Ferrero, who took office on January 5 this year, and will be in office for the next two years.

The new chair graduated as a lawyer from the University of San Martin de Porres. He holds a master's degree in constitutional law from Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

He was the lecturer responsible for the Master's Program in Constitutional Law at the University of San Martin de Porres, and is a university professor with 23 years of experience.
 
Moreover, Morales has worked at the TC as jurisdictional advisor, general secretary, and general coordinator of the Cabinet of Advisors.
