Former fugitive, Rodolfo Orellana Rengifo, arrived in Lima on Friday after being expelled from Colombia, where he was captured while hiding from Peruvian authorities.

In Bogota, Colombian authorities handed the suspect over to a delegation of Peruvian officials lead by Peru’s minister of Interior, Daniel Urresti.

The 50 year-old lawyer and entrepreneur had been hiding from Peruvian Justice since July.

Orellana Rengifo is under investigation for presumably running an organization, accused of profiting from illicitly-appropriated properties, owned by ordinary people and the government.

Prosecutor claimed Orellana has been involved in money laundering. Drug trafficking charges are also pending on him, Colombian authorities expressed.

On Thursday joint efforts undertaken by Colombian, Peruvian and American law enforcement agencies led to his capture.

Peru’s Attorney General, Carlos Ramos Heredia, previously explained reporters the ex-fugitive had been hiding inside a house, presumably owned by one of the detainee’s family members.

In Lima the suspect's sister, Ludith Orellana, was also held in custody on Thursday. She has been accused of being a top member of the criminal organization run by her brother.

The capture was highlighted by US Ambassador in Lima, Brian A. Nichols, who congratulated authorities.

The detention has been emphasized by the Peruvian government.
