FocusEconomics: Peruvian economic activity keeps pace in August

14:33 | Lima, Nov. 18.

Peru's economic activity grew 3.43% year-on-year in August, accelerating from July's 3.29% outturn, the latest FocusEconomics' LatinFocus Consensus Forecast report has said.

Therefore, national production in January–August expanded, slightly up from the increase recorded in the January–July period.

"Healthy retail sales growth, a two-digit expansion in consumer credit and rising exports of traditional, as well as fishing products, supported the overall performance of the economy," FocusEconomics expressed.

"In terms of productive sectors, robust expansions in the mining, trade, construction and telecommunication sectors were behind the positive performance of the economy in the month," it added.

Panelists surveyed for this month's LatinFocus report expect GDP to expand 3.2% in 2020. For 2021, the panel expects the economy to grow 3.6%.
