Fin Min: Peru continues to show resilience despite shocks

08:53 | Lima, Jun. 21.

Peru continues to show resilience despite the shocks to which it has been subjected, Economy and Finance Minister Alex Contreras highlighted.

"What we are experiencing now is a recovery. You have to separate the noise from the signals," he said on Tuesday.

Contreras made the remarks during the presentation of the project, called "New Industrial Park in Ancon, the new infrastructure for Productive Diversification," organized by Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion).

The Ancon industrial park is a US$750 million mega-project that will promote the consolidation of the productive and logistics corridor in Lima: The Port of Callao, Jorge Chavez International Airport, the industrial park, and the Port of Chancay.

Public investment

The minister affirmed that public investment continues to grow at a good pace. It has grown 17% so far this month.

In fact, when compared with similar government change periods in 2011, 2015 and 2019, there is a change of trend, which could be a historical.

"Business expectations returned to optimistic territory. This is a follow-up process; one can see how the 12-month expectations published by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) have gradually recovered month after month," he stated.
