Following the strong earthquake that hit Morocco last Friday, the
Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday reported that no Peruvian citizens have been registered among the more than 1,000 victims.
An earthquake of 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale, which occurred yesterday at 11:11 p.m. (local time), affected several areas in Morocco.
These diplomatic representatives reported that they have contacted Peruvian citizens residing in various locations in Morocco, particularly Marrakech, with no record of any injured or dead fellow citizens.
Likewise, the
Peruvian Embassy posted a notice on social media so as to
receive information about the situation of our compatriots, who can get in contact by calling the Consular Section emergency phone number: (+212) 655656618.
It is worth mentioning that no Peruvians reside or work in the earthquake's epicenter area.
The
Embassy of Peru in Morocco announced that it will
remain vigilant to ensure the well-being of compatriots residing in that country, or those who are on a tourist or any other type of visit.
In this sense, it urged those who know about tourist trips made to Morocco to contact the diplomatic mission by calling the aforementioned number.
