During the third day of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi participated in two events organized by the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders (IGWEL).

Moreover, Gervasi attended an event focused on ways to achieve a sustainable bio-economy in the Amazon, as well as two meetings held by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The first meeting was to discuss the preparations for the next Ministerial Meeting of the WTO, and the second one was focused on facilitating investment for the development of said organization.

The IGWEL meetings brought together 40 participants, including State ministers, business leaders, and civil society.

The event "Preparing for a new geopolitical era" sought to create a propitious environment to analyze how —in the last two years— the geopolitical weather vane has shifted from cooperation to competition, and now to conflict.

Given this scenario, IGWEL leaders discussed the implications of such changes under the parameters of cooperation.

On the other hand, the second IGWEL session focused on "Charting the course to COP28" and encouraged leaders to exchange views on how public and private sectors can work together in order to increase climate and natural ambition, meet commitments, and accelerate the deployment of finance.

Furthermore, at the event on bio-economy in the Amazon, the foreign affairs minister reaffirmed Peru's commitment to preserve biodiversity by promoting sustainable, fair, and equitable development in the Amazon, highlighting the numerous initiatives led by the Peruvian Government as examples of good practices in the region.

At the end of the day, the Peruvian minister participated in two WTO events, in which she was able to reaffirm Peru's commitment to trade multilateralism and the rules-based international system.
