Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer on Thursday stressed that the donation of vehicles and security equipment from the Chinese Government to Peru will be very useful for ensuring the proper development of the APEC 2024 Leaders' Week, which will bring together the heads of the 21 largest economies from the Asia-Pacific in Lima this November.

At the donation delivery ceremony, the Peruvian government official said that organizing the APEC forum —whose presidency is held by Peru for the third time— requires, on the one hand, not only rigorous preparation of the topics to be addressed and approved, but also impeccable logistics, in line with the magnitude and significance of the event.
"It will position our country at the center of the global stage; in this context, the helping hand of the People's Republic of China has once again been demonstrated thanks to the donation of 110 vehicles, including cars, buses, and motorcycles; 14 security scanners; 185 computer equipment items and servers, all of them valued at approximately US$7 million," he noted.
The Cabinet member said China has made available US$1 million for the Peruvian National Police to purchase security equipment that will be very useful to ensure the proper development of the meetings.
"There is no doubt that these donations are a clear proof of the solid Peruvian-Chinese friendship, consolidated through our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as the strong trade and investment relationship we maintain," he stated.
The diplomat also emphasized that the inauguration of the Chancay Megaport —set to be inaugurated by both countries' presidents— will elevate the level of our port infrastructure and turn Peru into a logistics hub to foster trade across the Asia-Pacific region.
Minister Schialer also underlined that President Dina Boluarte's successful state visit to China last June allowed for strengthening historic ties, establishing new business alliances, fostering economic cooperation, and arranging high-level visits.
