FA Min calls on international community to join Peru's initiative

During his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer called on the international community to take part in the Peruvian initiative titled "Green and Resilient Amazon."

Likewise, the diplomat expressed the disappointment of Amazonian countries at the lack of greater financial commitment from global actors on this issue.

Regarding the Peruvian initiative, the ambassador indicated that it expands the "National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation" in order to develop preservation and restoration actions in the Amazon.

"At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer expressed the disappointment of Amazonian countries over the lack of greater financial commitment from the international community, which he urged to join the Peruvian initiative 'Green and Resilient Amazon,'" the Peruvian government agency reported.

The Cabinet member is part of the Peruvian delegation participating in WEF's annual event. The group is headed by President Dina Boluarte.
