16:00 | Tel Aviv (Israel), Feb. 12.
Former President and current fugitive Alejandro Toledo was not onboard a United Airlines flight that landed in Tel Aviv this Sunday from San Francisco (U.S.), Israel's Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon affirmed.
Previously, the State of Israel said it would not allow entry to Peru's ex-Head of State, wanted in his homeland over accusations claiming he received US$20 million in bribes.
As is known, Toledo is married to Europe-born Eliane Karp, who has Israeli citizenship.
Days ago, Peru's Presidency of the Council of Ministers revealed it had information that the fugitive was in the U.S. and could try to flee to Israel.
"We have issued an alert to Israeli authorities last Friday about the said risk. They are aware of that risk," Peruvian Interior Minister Carlos Basombrio expressed on Sunday morning from Lima.
"Our [Peruvian] Embassy in Israel is working intensively [on the matter], and we hope they will not let him in," he added.
According to Basombrio, Israel is one of the 190 territories which received an Interpol's red notice on the matter.
