The European Union drug war aid to Peru amounts to €32 million (about S/125 million), which is aimed at combating illicit drug trafficking and production, EU Ambassador to Peru Irene Horejs informed.

In statements to Andina news agency, the diplomat said money is channelized through different units involved in the implementation of the Peru anti-drug strategy .

The EU also supports Peru's tax agency Sunat and National Police, in a bid to improve control at airports and ports.

Moreover, the Judiciary and Prosecutor’s Office receive support for their actions taken on this matter.

When asked if the amount of financial aid will be increased, reduced or remain unchanged, Horejs said this will be discussed with the new administration.

Alternative development and eradication programs receive European support as well.
