For fourth consecutive year, Diario Oficial El Peruano (Official Gazette El Peruano) is among the South American country's most trusted media outlets, holding the second position in preferences, according to the Digital News Report 2024 by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

In the Peru chapter, the report indicates that "some news brands with a long heritage, such as the largest broadcast network RPP Noticias and El Peruano, a paper first established by Simon Bolivar in 1825, are trusted by over 50% of our respondents."

El Peruano gets a positive score (59%), an eight-percentage-point increase compared to 2023, when it reached 51%. The Official Gazette is only one step behind RPP Noticias (63%).

Overall, Peruvians' trust level in the news is at 35%, which is two points higher than last year.

However, according to the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, it "remains low by both global and regional standards."

"Many Peruvians see the media as not sufficiently independent from powerful business and political interests," reads the document.

The Official Gazette El Peruano ranked first in the assessment in 2021, as well as second in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The third place is held by El Comercio (57%), followed by La República, Gestión, Canal N (54%), and TV Perú Noticias (53%).
