Editora Peru —a State-run company that owns the
Official Gazette El Peruano and
Andina news agency— on Monday obtained the Environmental Management System (EMS) certification to the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
This certification recognizes Editora Peru as an environmentally responsible company that ensures a path towards a sustainable environment over time.
The important distinction was awarded by SGS Peru, a world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
During the ceremony, Alvaro Lopez, managing director of the aforementioned organization, referred to Editora Peru as a State-run company that marks a milestone in its history after a long process of transformation in the organizational culture to achieve the waste management certification.
"It is a clear sign that it (Editora Peru) is involved and committed to the environment. The fact that a public company has been awarded a certificate for its processes is doubly noteworthy, as this is usually a little more difficult in comparison with private companies," Lopez remarked.
For its part, Editora Peru General Manager Carlos Vasquez affirmed that the certification will add value to all initiatives for the good not only of the environment but also of citizens.
"The entire organization was committed to achieving this certification; we told every employee that we must know how to manage solid waste, be eco-efficient, save on water and electricity consumption, among other things," he said.
For 2024, Editora Peru is preparing for the ISO 27001 certification, which helps to ensure your data confidentiality, integrity and availability of data and information.
