Coronavirus deaths increase to 16 in Peru

Because of five new deaths reported today, the number of fatalities from coronavirus (COVID-19) rose to 16 in Peru, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday morning.

The first of these is a 50-year-old man, who was admitted to Almanzor Aguinaga National Hospital in the northern city of Chiclayo (Lambayeque region) due to acute respiratory failure and COVID-19 pneumonia. His death occurred on March 26 at 05:00 a.m.

The second case involves a 66-year-old man who entered the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen National Hospital in Lima because of respiratory failure, sepsis, and COVID-19 pneumonia. His death occurred on March 26 at 9:30 p.m. 

The third is a 43-year-old man who was admitted to Hipolito Unanue Hospital in Lima due to respiratory failure, sepsis at respiratory focus, obesity, and COVID-19 pneumonia. His death occurred on March 27 at 02:16 a.m.

The other victim is a 64-year-old man from Hong Kong who had symptoms of COVID-19 infection. His death occurred at his home located in Cusco region on March 27 at 03:20 a.m.

Finally, the fifth victim is a 60-year-old woman who was admitted to the Alberto Sabogal Sologuren Hospital in Bellavista (Callao region) for septic shock, respiratory failure, and COVID-19 pneumonia. Her death occurred on March 27 at 5:45 p.m. 

"On behalf of all Peruvians, we express our heartfelt condolences to the relatives at this moment of pain," Minsa said in a statement.
