Coronavirus deaths increase to 11 in Peru

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Friday reported two new deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Peru, bringing the total number to 11.

According to Minsa, the first victim is a 56-year-old man, who died on Thursday, March 26, at 9:30 AM, at Regional Docente Hospital in Trujillo.

Upon admission, he was found to have severe acute respiratory failure and COVID-19 infection.

The second is a 65-year-old man with a history of brain cancer, who was admitted to Dos de Mayo Hospital in Lima on March 21.

He was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he received oxygen therapy due to COVID-19 infection. 

However, his evolution was unfavorable, causing his death on Thursday, March 26, at 12:40 PM.

"On behalf of all Peruvians, we express our heartfelt condolences to the relatives at this moment of pain," Minsa said in a statement.
