Coronavirus deaths exceed 325,000 worldwide

The new coronavirus pandemic has caused more than 325,000 deaths worldwide; three quarters correspond to Europe and the United States, since covid-19 appeared in China in December 2019, according to an AFP tally based on official data on Wednesday at 1800 GMT.

In total 325,003 deaths have been recorded worldwide, out of 4,939,642 contagion cases. 169,671 deaths were registered in Europe (1,944,207 cases) —the most affected continent.

The United States is the country that registered the most deaths (92,387), ahead of the United Kingdom (35,704), Italy (32,330), France (28,132), and Spain (27,888).
