More than 30,000 Peruvian fans will head to Rio de Janeiro to support their national soccer team in the Copa America final against Brazil, the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) estimated on Friday.

"In the following days, over 5,000 national fans will travel to Rio de Janeiro to cheer on the Peruvian team in the Copa America final match," Canatur Chairman Carlos Canales told Andina news agency.

"They will join the 25,000 Peruvians that have descended on that country over the past weeks to attend this sporting event at the mystic Maracana Stadium," he said.

Peruvian supporters have been trying to buy airline tickets online to get to Rio de Janeiro since Wednesday night, once Peru defeated Chile (3-0) in the semifinals.

"Unfortunately, there are only two daily flights operating on this route, and they are fully booked, which would limit the arrival of more Peruvians," he warned.

In addition to them, Brazil is expected to receive Peruvian nationals residing in Argentina, Bolivia, and Uruguay.

However, Canales explained the Copa America final tickets are almost sold out.

"Only 5% of tickets are available for purchase, as well as the resale ones," he stated.
