The State-visit of Leader Xi Jinping coincides with the best moment of bilateral relations between China and Peru, highlighted today Peruvian Ambassador to Beijing Juan Carlos Capuñay.

"I would say we are at the best moment of bilateral relations," the diplomat told Andina news agency.

He explained China manages three instruments when relating to other countries: free trade agreement, comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as strategic and economic dialogue committee.

"Peru is the only Latin American country that shares these three instruments with China," he emphasized.

Xi Jinping's official visit takes place on Monday following his participation at the 24th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum Leaders' Summit held this week in Lima.

This visit is expected to become an opportunity for China and Peru to celebrate several agreements to benefit both nations.

According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, China became the main destination for Peruvian exports in 2011, outpacing the United States. Likewise, it is Peru's second-largest provider.

That year, bilateral trade surpassed US$12 billion. It exceeded US$14 billion in 2012. Currently, Chinese investments in Peru border US$2 billion, mainly in mining and energy sectors.
