At age 41, Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro continues to make history in Germany, where the Bundesliga —the European country's major soccer league— has deemed him as the "Protagonist of the Decade."

Pizarro's arrival in the northern port city of Bremen (1999) and then his outstanding career at FC Bayern Munich managed to amaze the German fans.

"His career in Germany will be remembered forever and has been a turning point for both parties. Since he landed in Bremen in 1999, he has not stopped harvesting great moments on and off the pitch," the league expressed.

"There are personalities that transcend time and become legends. That is Claudio Pizarro at the Bundesliga (...)," read the story based on the Peruvian athlete.

In addition, the German league highlighted the journey the 'Andean Bomber' went through over the last 10 years, during which he became the Bundesliga's top foreign scorer for nearly nine years. However, the title was recently claimed by FC Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.

"(In 2010), he was going through the second stage at the SV (Werder Bremen) after a very successful first time at FC Bayern Munich and a short experience in the British football (league). And although the change of the decade had gotten his gunpowder wet, (he scored nine goals in 22 Bundesliga matches in the 2010/11 season) and his team was not competing at the top, he has always been a benchmark for the German championship," it added.

When it seemed that 'Pizza' was retiring, he decided to return to SV Werder Bremen for a fourth cycle. During this stage, he became the most veteran player to score a goal in Bundesliga's history.

He currently enjoys his last moments as a professional soccer player. Nonetheless, the satisfaction of having conquered Germany will last forever.
