BCR: Peru's traditional exports grew 10.6% in Jan 2021

15:00 | Lima, Mar. 17.

Peruvian traditional exports totaled US$2.957 billion in January 2021, marking a 10.6% expansion over the same month of 2020, mainly due to higher mining product prices, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported on Wednesday.

Therefore, there was a year-on-year growth for fifth consecutive month.

Last January, fishery exports expanded 70.9%, followed by those from the mining (8.8%), and agricultural sectors (7.3%).

Likewise, the BCR argued that traditional export prices increased 23%, which were explained by higher prices of metals and fishmeal.

The issuing entity also indicated that traditional sector's total volumes decreased by 10.1%, despite the increase in the shipped volumes of copper, coffee, and fishmeal.
