APEC Peru 2024: Vietnamese President confirmed to attend Leaders' Summit

The attendance of Vietnamese President Tô Lâm to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit in Peru 2024 has been confirmed.

The confirmation took place during the 5th Meeting of the Peru-Vietnam Bilateral Consultation Mechanism, held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima, last week.

Within this framework, Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Camino received his Vietnamese counterpart, Ha Kim Ngoc, who expressed his satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations.

Both deputy ministers co-chaired the meeting of the Bilateral Political Consultation Mechanism.

During the event, it was stated that the Vietnamese President's presence also aims to improve the level of relations between the two countries.

This will be the first official visit by a Vietnamese President to Peru, and it will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

Political Consultations

During the meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism, both countries' teams discussed the interest in negotiating memoranda of understanding for cooperation in tourism, culture, public security, and crime prevention.

The Peruvian delegation reiterated its gratitude to Vietnam for its support in granting Peru the status of 
"Development Partner" of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

It was also reported that, prior to the visit of the Vietnamese President, the Third Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Affairs and Technical Cooperation between Peru and Vietnam will be held, with the aim of deepening economic, commercial, and cooperation issues.
