Maria Antonieta Alva was on Thursday afternoon sworn in as the new Minister of Economy and Finance.
She had served as Public Budget General Director at said ministry since October 2017.
Alva graduated from Universidad del Pacifico and has a Master's degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
She also completed leadership courses at Georgetown University.
Her first experience in the public sector was in 2007 as advisor to the General Directorate of Multi-annual Programming of the Economy and Finance Ministry.
In 2010, she joined the Public Budget General Directorate.
Afterwards, in 2011, Alva started to work at the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, and in 2014, she joined the Education sector.
The brand-new minister is the daughter of Jorge Alva, rector of the National University of Engineering (UNI).
