The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday headed a meeting at the Lima-based National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) to analyze progress in addressing forest fires.

The Head of State arrived at these facilities, meeting there with ministers from various portfolios and National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) members.

"We need to know how progress is being made in addressing this almost national emergency," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

In this regard, the top official asked Defense Minister Walter Astudillo to report on the development of these events in the last few hours.

The Cabinet member, in turn, invited Indeci Chief Juan Urcariegui to provide the corresponding report.

He said that in every place where level-3 fires occur, there is immediate attention from the corresponding entities.

The meeting at the COEN headquarters continued with the participation of the heads of various ministries.
