At the First International Symposium on STI for citizen security and the fight against organized crime, Mindef presented the Defense sector's technological advances.
The event was organized by the National Council for Science, Technology, and Technological Innovation (Concytec).
During this session, the Peruvian Air Force (FAP) showcased drone and anti-drone systems developed by the institution. These devices make it possible to detect, intercept, and neutralize unauthorized aircraft that pose threats to internal security.
Likewise, the chief of the Directorate of Science, Technology, and Industry for Defense (DICTIC), MSc Miguel Dulanto, delivered the presentation "Challenges and advances in STI for the fight against organized crime and citizen security in Peru."
He detailed the role of the sector's technological capabilities in supporting internal order.
In that context, the successful use of FAP's anti-drone systems during the APEC Summit 2024 was highlighted, which enabled the neutralization of more than 100 unidentified drones, in collaboration with international technology companies.
In addition, the strategic use of the PeruSat-1 satellite, managed by the Peruvian Space Agency (CONIDA), was emphasized. Its satellite images make it possible to detect illegal crops, informal mining, and deforestation, and are available free of charge to State-run entities.
Soon, these images will be viewable through the new digital platform "GeoAPP CONIDA."
Finally, the Ministry of Defense reiterated its commitment to the development of STI applied to national security, as well as to strengthening its collaboration with CONCYTEC to effectively address the threats that affect the country's peace and development.
