APEC Peru 2024: 14 heads confirmed participation in Leaders' Week

So far, 14 leaders of member economies have confirmed their attendance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week, set to take place on November 9-16 in the city of Lima, Peru's Senior Official for the APEC forum Renato Reyes Tagle has reported.

In remarks to Andina News Agency, Reyes Tagle said that the confirmed leaders include Chinese President Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, among others.

Likewise, the diplomat said that 5,000 delegates will participate in the event, in addition to security from the different APEC economies.

Besides, the arrival of approximately 2,000 international journalists is expected.

In this regard, he stated that the gathering of delegations will generate a direct positive economic impact for the accommodation, food, transportation, tourism, and security sectors in Peru.

Moreover, Reyes mentioned that the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELW) will also be attended by approximately 1,000 businesspeople from the Asia-Pacific region. Among them are the vice-president of Google and the CEO of TikTok, who will be in Peru for the first time.

During Leaders' Week, business routes are expected to be established among the economies, which will mean a strong impact on trade and investment, Reyes noted.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
