A Peruvian delegation —led by Ministers Romulo Mucho (Energy-Mines) and Jose Arista (Economy-Finance)— participated in the "Peru Time" event, showcasing investment opportunities in the exploration and exploitation of our country's varied mineral wealth, within the framework of the IMARC 2024 world summit held in the Australian city of Sydney.

During the "Peru Time" event, representatives from our public and private sectors presented the advantages offered to attract more investments at this global conclave that brings together more than 9,000 attendees, 800 mining companies, and delegations from 120 countries.

In his presentation "Peru's Role in the Global Energy Transition," Minister Mucho highlighted the significant role played by his sector as a promoter of mining and energy activities' comprehensive development, fostering the sustainability of resources in harmony with the environment.

Key player

Likewise, the Cabinet member emphasized that Peru is a key player in the framework of energy transition.

"Of the 17 critical metals that the world requires, we (Peru) have eight, among which copper stands out for global supply," Mucho pointed out at the International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) 2024.

In this regard, he said experts project that there will be a deficit of 5 million tons of copper by 2030.

To cover this deficit, around US$125 billion is required worldwide, and Peru will be able to capture a large part of this amount thanks to its mining potential.

Peruvian potential

Meanwhile, Economy and Finance Minister Jose Arista, Deputy Mines Minister Henry Luna, and other representatives from public and private sectors made presentations on Peru's potential, with the aim of positioning our country as one of the most important producers of strategic minerals for current international markets.

The officials participated in the inauguration of the Peruvian stand at the Sydney Convention Centre, through the ribbon cutting and the corresponding ceremony in the presence of private sector representatives and Peruvian delegation members at IMARC 2024.

Afterwards, Minister Mucho and Deputy Minister Luna met with Madeleine King, Minister for Resources of the Commonwealth of Australia, to strengthen friendship and cooperation ties between both countries, which are renowned mining producers.

The heads of Minem and MEF also visited the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), where the officials rang the traditional bell.

Similarly, they learned first-hand about the daily trading volume of Australia's economy, which positions it as one of the most important in the world due to its ability to leverage its mineral wealth.
