Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela inaugurated the Monitoring Center on Friday at the Ministry's headquarters in Lima to track developments in the electoral process involving Peruvian citizens abroad.

The unit consists of 25 stations interconnected with Peru's 114 consulates in foreign countries.

From the center, the minister held a virtual communication with a group of consuls based in the Americas, Oceania, and Europe.

Consuls general in Sydney (Australia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Madrid (Spain) reported that electoral materials have already been received and are being transported to polling places.

For Sunday's elections, the Foreign Affairs Ministry will set up a total of 2,497 polling tables.

"We will have specially trained personnel to resolve any questions. This is a task that has been carried out, of course, in coordination with electoral authorities," De Zela indicated.

Finally, the Cabinet member called on the Peruvian community abroad to take part in the 2026 General Elections.

"Each compatriot abroad must fulfill their civic duty and contribute to strengthening democracy," he emphasized.

The General Elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.

This electoral process will allow citizens to go to the polls to choose the next President of the Republic, Vice Presidents, Senators, Deputies, and Representatives to the Andean Parliament.
