The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday stated that her government is firmly advancing in its commitment to enhance the quality of education in Peru -an effort highlighted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

"In its latest educational report, the OECD recognizes Peru's efficiency in terms of education within Latin America and highlights the results achieved due to the investment made to enhance the quality of learning," Mrs. Boluarte underlined during the inauguration of the eighteenth Bicentennial School, I. E. (Educational Institution) No. 1267, in Lima's Lurigancho-Chosica district.

Before dozens of students and their teaching staff, she stated that, in the aforementioned study, the multilateral organization highlighted the closing of gender gaps and generational mobility.

"Besides, the OECD reports that our students have access to numerous resources thanks to a comprehensive education system and demonstrate resilience in the face of the challenges posed by global societies," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.

"These advances reflect the efforts we make as a nation and as a government to reduce school dropouts and to improve our students' learning, a commitment we will not waver on," she added.

Likewise, the top official highlighted the increase in the budget for the education sector in recent years, which has enabled Peru to approach the average investment per student by OECD countries.

"These important figures, which should be headlines in all media outlets, are not announced by us. Just as our country's good economic performance is recognized by other nations and their experts, the OECD now highlights the good work in education," she expressed.

The Head of State reiterated her call on the private sector, regional and local governments, plus social organizations to strengthen the social pact for education promoted by this government.

"I call on Peruvians to unite as one force and contribute to the stability of Peru. We understand the demands and concerns of the population, and I assure you that we are addressing them. You have a government that is at the forefront, which does not avoid or shy away from the problems we have inherited, such as poverty or crime," she stated.

Furthermore, the president underscored that by 2025, in collaboration with the Education Ministry, a total of 75 Bicentennial Schools —like the one inaugurated today— will be delivered, built in nine regions of the country, benefitting more than 118,000 students.

"Our government has set an ambitious goal, but one that is fair and necessary. After many years of neglect and lack of attention, after so many promises that have been left unfulfilled, we are now firmly moving forward in the process of improving the infrastructure and quality of education in the country," she underlined.

Lastly, Mrs. Boluarte stated that her government will continue to promote and inaugurate projects, such as the Chancay Megaport. It will start operations in November and revolutionize trade in South America, she noted.
