The
on Tuesday stated that the government remains steadfast and will not relent in its task of building a country where the right to live in peace comes first and where criminals are behind bars.
These statements were made during the inauguration of the National Citizen Security Council’s (Conasec) second ordinary session, held at the Government Palace in Lima.
"In our government, we remain steadfast and will never relent in the task entrusted to us by our compatriots: building a Peru where the right to live in peace prevails and where criminals are placed in the only place they belong—in a penitentiary center, outside of our society," Mrs. Boluarte said.
In this regard, the President indicated that Conasec's second ordinary session "renews the unwavering commitment to continue the fight for a safer Peru (...) through an effort that involves daily work, and strategic actions tailored to each case and region of the country."
Likewise, the Head of State praised the commitment of all members of the National Citizen Security Council, an organization that plays a key role in boosting actions against delinquency and organized crime.
The top official underscored that of the 13 agreements approved during Conasec's first ordinary session, seven have been implemented, and 20 permanent coordination meetings were also held to ensure the fulfillment of sectoral agreements and commitments.
Mrs. Boluarte said it was important to coordinate with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to secure the budget necessary for the full implementation of the flagrancy units.
At another point, she highlighted that Congress approved the declaration of a state of emergency for the Peruvian National Police (PNP), with the aim of reducing logistical gaps and strengthening police intelligence in the fight against delinquency and organized crime.
The Head of State added that the National Migration Office, through its zonal offices nationwide, carried out 2,500 verification and inspection operations, involving 38,674 foreigners. This led to the identification of 2,800 individuals with alleged immigration violations, who were then referred to law enforcement agents.
The President also mentioned that the PNP has so far this year arrested 198,426 people, of whom 10,000 were foreigners and 187,000 were nationals.
Similarly, more than 9,000 criminal gangs and 146 criminal organizations were dismantled.
Mrs. Boluarte added that the net continues to close in on the criminal known as the "Monster."
