Meanwhile, the annual core inflation rate —without food and energy— slowed to 2.50%, its lowest level recorded since August 2021.
The annual core inflation rate —a critical indicator for monetary policy as it excludes volatile components— decreased in October for the fourth consecutive month, also remaining within the BCR's target range.
Monthly total inflation in Lima Metropolitan Area fell by -0.09% in October compared to September, while core inflation —without food and energy— increased by 0.08% during the same period.
The items that contributed most to October's inflation decline were eggs (-8.8%), whole and ground garlic (-28.2%), and potatoes (-4.3%).
Conversely, the most significant price increases were registered in fresh fish (12.6%), limes (17.7%), and meals outside the home (0.2%).
