Peruvian Prime Minister Eduardo Arana took part in the Canada Day celebration held in Lima. It is a date that underscores the excellent state of relations between the two nations, marked by cooperation on multiple levels.
Within this framework, the Peruvian Cabinet chief underscored that a solid and increasingly close relationship has been built over more than 80 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
"We are united by fundamental values such as the defense of democracy, respect for the rule of law, the promotion of human rights, and strong support for multilateralism," he added.
The Peruvian government official highlighted the bond between the two nations.
"Trade has grown by over 60%, approaching US$5 billion annually. This is complemented by a growing number of Canadian investments in strategic sectors for national development, such as mining, infrastructure, and finance," he noted.
Lastly, Prime Minister Arana highlighted Canada's continued support for Peru's accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
