Peru and Angola highlighted their willingness to continue deepening ties of friendship and cooperation, during a meeting between Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer and Angolan Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça.

At the audience, both high-ranking officials discussed initiatives to strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.

This event was held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

Last Tuesday, Ambassador Mendonça, in a gesture of deep symbolism, visited the Sanctuary and Monastery of Las Nazarenas in downtown Lima, reaffirming the historical and spiritual bonds that unite both countries.

"In the 17th century, an Angolan slave in Pachacamilla painted the Lord of Miracles, whose image survived the 1655 earthquake, giving rise to a devotion that endures as part of Peru's cultural and spiritual heritage," the Foreign Affairs Ministry stated via social media.
