The
on Tuesday paid tribute to agricultural workers for their contribution to the country, as part of the celebration of Farmer's Day.
The message was shared by the Presidential Office on the X platform.
"Heroes of the land who feed Peru. Today, we pay tribute to those who, with their hands and hearts, cultivate hope in every furrow and help Peru grow from its roots," reads the post.
It also thanks farmers —both male and female— for their tireless work, for preserving our traditions, and for "sowing the homeland every day."
"Your effort moves the country and deserves our full recognition," the message adds.
Farmer's Day replaced Indian Day, which had been observed since June 24, 1930 —the year it was established by President Augusto B. Leguia.
On June 24, 1969, when President Juan Velasco Alvarado enacted the Agrarian Reform Law, Indian Day was also renamed to Farmer's Day.
The date remains in place to this day as a way to recognize the importance of the vital role Peruvian farmers play in national life.
