Peruvian agricultural exports totaled US$4.578 billion from January to May of this year, a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2024, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Desilu Leon highlighted.

"Agro-exports are positioning themselves as a driver of development and growth, not only for attracting foreign currency, but also for generating employment," Leon emphasized.

"In these first months of the year, we have seen how almost all regions of the country have experienced significant growth in their exports, not only due to prices, but also to production volumes," she added.

The minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism made these remarks during the official launch of Fresh Report 2025, a catalog of Peruvian agro-exports that provides a detailed analysis of the 12 main products in Peru's export basket, which together account for 74% of national agricultural shipments.

The government official highlighted the potential of blueberry shipments, which in 2024 alone exceeded US$2.2 billion, consolidating their position as the country's top agricultural export product and the fourth-largest export overall.

Likewise, the Cabinet member stressed that fresh grapes gained access to the Japanese market in 2023; in 2024, they regained access to Ecuador.

Furthermore, the minister reported that the Deputy Ministry of Foreign Trade is conducting training sessions for exporters so they can enter new markets and make the most of the trade agreements Peru has with other economies.

Leon explained that, thanks to the Chancay multipurpose port, logistics times have been reduced and the competitiveness of goods shipped abroad has significantly improved.

Between November 2024 and May 2025, 42% of the products exported from Chancay were primarily agricultural, including avocados, blueberries, grapes, mangoes, tangerines, and strawberries.

"These products came from La Libertad, Lima, Ica, Lambayeque, and Piura (regions), and were shipped to destinations such as China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, among others, benefiting from shipping times that now average around 20 days," she explained.

The Fresh Report 2025 catalog serves as a guide and a key tool to showcase the strengths of Peru's export offering, understand market trends, and position the country as a reliable supplier of fresh, healthy, and sustainable food.

It also serves as Peru's calling card to the world for trade promotion through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
