During the meetings, the Peruvian government official discussed various matters with China's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Han Jun to articulate actions that facilitate the access of products such as pomegranates, meat, among others, into the Chinese market, thereby boosting the work of small-scale Peruvian producers.
The Cabinet member emphasized that, just as Peru has established itself as the world's leading exporter of blueberries, table grapes, and asparagus, and the second-largest exporter of avocados, there is great interest in continuing to open markets in other Asian countries. He added that the next major challenge is to bring innovation to small-scale farming and apply biotechnology.
These actions are part of the activities carried out by the Government at this important cooperation meeting of APEC member economies, which will help develop a more modern and sustainable agriculture through the application of new technologies to strengthen agri-food systems that ensure food security.
