On World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to the prevention, protection, and assistance of victims of this scourge, both nationally and internationally.

Through its 13 decentralized offices and 117 consulates, the Peruvian government agency carries out active and coordinated efforts to address these crimes.

Between 2024 and so far in 2025, the Ministry reported 11 cases of Peruvian nationals who were victims of human trafficking.

During this period, Peruvian citizens were repatriated from Belgium, Bolivia, Cambodia, Chile, Guatemala, Italy, and Poland, ensuring their safe return to the homeland.

The work of the Foreign Affairs Ministry is guided by two specialized protocols developed for the protection of human trafficking victims, which provide guidance for the efforts of Peruvian consulates abroad and decentralized offices nationwide.

Likewise, within the framework of the National Policy against Human Trafficking, the Ministry provides three essential services to Peruvians abroad: raising awareness about the risks of becoming a human trafficking victim, identifying Peruvian nationals who are trafficking victims outside the national territory, and offering protection and assistance to safeguard their rights and facilitate their repatriation.

The government agency also actively participates in the Permanent Multisectoral Commission against Human Trafficking and Illicit Smuggling of Migrants, led by the Interior Ministry.

Moreover, it takes part in the "Blue Heart" global awareness campaign against trafficking. It carries out information and awareness campaigns to combat this scourge as well.
