Below is the statement published on the official PCM's account on X.
Regarding the remarks made by the President of Colombia and by the express directive of the constitutional President of the Republic, we make the following statement:
1. We categorically reject these statements that disregard Peru's sovereignty over the district of Santa Rosa de Loreto.
2. We reaffirm Peru's sovereignty over Chineria Island, included in the district of Santa Rosa de Loreto, which was assigned to Peru in the boundary demarcation process stemming from the 1922 Treaty.
3. We confirm that our sovereignty over the district of Santa Rosa de Loreto is supported by history and the presence of Peruvian State institutions in this jurisdiction.
4. Peru is a country that knows how to engage in dialogue and resolve issues with a commitment to peace. However, we have always been firm in defending our territory and interests, and there is no border dispute with Colombia.
5. Latin America, and especially South America, needs to focus on development, investments, infrastructure modernization, the fight against poverty, education, and health. This is where heads of state should focus their efforts.
6. The Peruvian people must have the assurance and full confidence that our Government and its authorities are safeguarding national interests, as well as the defense of Peru's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
7. We reiterate that there is no dispute whatsoever regarding Peru's sovereignty over the district of Santa Rosa de Loreto, nor over any of our other borders.
