The President of the Republic of Peru, Dina Boluarte, has stated that our national sovereignty is not in conflict and that there are no pending issues to address with our brother country, Colombia.

The Head of State, delivering an address to the nation from Japan where she is fulfilling a busy schedule, urged the Peruvian population to remain calm and united at this time.

"National sovereignty is not in conflict and there is absolutely no pending issue to address, as established by the 1922 treaty and its reaffirmation, so to speak, through the 1934 Rio de Janeiro Protocol," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"Consequently, our Chineria Island, with its capital Santa Rosa de Loreto, falls under Peruvian jurisdiction and is within our national sovereignty," she emphasized.

In this regard, the top official added that "there is nothing pending to be addressed with our brother country to the north, with the Colombian brothers."

The Head of State also congratulated institutions, politicians, and society as a whole for coming together in unity and raising their voices to affirm our national sovereignty.

"Dear compatriots, let us remain calm, united, and determined to defend our sovereignty and democracy. There is no reason to be alarmed, especially since we have no pending border issues with our neighboring brothers in the region," she underlined.
