Peru: Congress authorizes President Boluarte's trip to Japan and Indonesia

The plenary of Congress approved authorizing President Dina Boluarte to leave the country from August 5 to 12 to pay an official visit to Japan and a state visit to Indonesia.

The legislative resolution authorizing the Head of State's trip was approved with 63 votes in favor, 39 against, and two abstentions during the plenary session held on August 1.

According to Article 78 of Congress' Regulations, the legislative resolution does not require a second vote, Parliament's First Vice Chairman Fernando Rospigliosi stated.

The top official will pay an official visit to Japan on the occasion of "Peru Day" at the "Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai."

Likewise, the top official will hold a bilateral summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo.

The President of the Republic is scheduled to be received in audience by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito as well.

Moreover, President Boluarte will carry out a state visit to Indonesia and its President, Prabowo Subianto, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The resolution also specifies that the President will remain in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic through the use of digital technologies, in accordance with Article 8-A of Law No. 29158, the Organic Law of the Executive Branch, as amended by Law No. 31810.

This is in line with current national regulations on digital security and trust.
