Peru: New Commander General of Navy appointed

The Executive Branch, through the Ministry of Defense (Mindef), has appointed Vice Admiral Federico Javier Bravo de Rueda Delgado as the new Commander General of the Peruvian Navy.

This appointment was made through Supreme Resolution No. 027-2025-DE, published on Tuesday in the Legal Regulations Bulletin of the Official Gazette El Peruano.

Additionally, through another supreme resolution, Vice Admiral Luis Jose Polar Figari was officially relieved of the aforementioned position as of today, August 5.

The resolution also establishes the transition of Polar Figari to military retirement status, recognizing his 40 years of service as an officer and expressing gratitude for the services rendered.

The Commander General of the Navy is appointed by the President of the Republic from among the three most senior Vice Admirals on active duty, excluding, when applicable, the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.

The selected officer is granted the designation of Admiral while serving in the position.

The new Commander General will serve a two-year term. An extension of one additional year is permitted only in the case of the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA).

The resolutions appointing Bravo de Rueda Delgado and relieving Polar Figari bear the signature of President Dina Boluarte and the countersignature of Defense Minister Walter Astudillo.
