on Friday stated that Santa Rosa de Loreto district is and will remain Peruvian, as she reiterated that Peruvians will remain vigilant and steadfast in defending national sovereignty.
"Let's be clear: Peru's sovereignty is not up for discussion. The district of Santa Rosa de Loreto is and will remain Peruvian. This is written and ratified in the agreements and treaties that establish the boundaries between Peru and Colombia, which are perpetual and unchangeable," she expressed.
"We are at the very beginning of the homeland, where the pride of being Peruvian fills our hearts (…) With the Amazon River as witness, we are here reaffirming the vastness of Peruvian blood and the duty of our compatriots to continue building a strong, united, and developing nation," she stated.
Within this framework, the top official said that there have been unacceptable actions and messages affecting the brotherhood between the two nations in recent days, particularly impacting the border communities that have historically lived in harmony and integration.
Mrs. Boluarte emphasized that Peru is a nation that values peace and harmony, but will not accept anyone attempting to challenge its sovereignty or its authorities, who legitimately exercise their duties in Santa Rosa de Loreto and throughout the national territory.
"We are here alongside the Chairman of Congress, parliamentarians, State ministers, regional and local authorities, and the population itself to tell all Peruvians that we will remain united in defense of our beloved homeland," she stated.
The President clarified that the 1922 Salomon Lozada Treaty and the 1934 Rio de Janeiro Protocol, signed by Peru and Colombia, are clear and categorical. Similarly, these documents have allowed the two countries to enjoy a century of fraternal friendship and peaceful coexistence, with economic, commercial, gastronomic, and tourist exchanges.
"Peru respects the Colombian people, with whom it shares historical bonds of brotherhood. We foster respectful relations between brotherly nations, and this must continue," she stated.
The President also urged the people of Santa Rosa de Loreto to be certain that Peruvians will always remain vigilant and steadfast in defending sovereignty, acting in accordance with the Constitution and international law.
"We will not give up a single inch of our territory, nor will we allow any acts of disrespect. Our sovereignty is not up for discussion," she reiterated.
