It noted that 65 ports along the entire coastline have been closed, according to the National Maritime Authority (Dicapi), the agency responsible for monitoring and overseeing all activities in Peru's aquatic environments.
"From the Executive Branch, together with local and regional authorities, we will continue monitoring the Peruvian coastline and issuing the necessary alerts to safeguard the population," the document stated.
Lastly, the Presidential Office recommends complying with all preventive measures through COEN's official channels.
Following the 8.8-magnitude earthquake recorded off the southern coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula the previous day, the Peruvian Navy, through its Hydrography and Navigation Directorate (DHN), issued a tsunami alert along the Peruvian shoreline.
Likewise, it recommended the suspension of all coastal activities.
President Dina Boluarte also oversees the response along the Peruvian coast after the tsunami alert triggered by the earthquake in Russia.
