President urges parties to unite Peruvians willing to achieve great things for country

President Dina Boluarte on Wednesday called on political parties running in the upcoming elections to bring together Peruvians who want to achieve great things for the country, and not those who believe everything can be solved through violence.

"You, dear compatriots, think carefully about whom you give your vote to. Sometimes, when too much is promised, it is hard to deliver. The country needs us to be united, but also thoughtful and objective in deciding whom we entrust with our vote," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

The Head of State stressed that in the election year, which is starting to gain momentum, it is imperative to reflect on the homeland's true needs and interests, not just those of a few.

"To those who seek to gain advantage by leading violent demonstrations, we say once again that this is not the way. Earn the trust of voters through proposals that will benefit the country, proposals that —once in office— will truly be fulfilled," she stated.

Meanwhile, the top official said the government will remain focused on promoting impactful projects, such as the Chincha Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR), whose concession contract was signed today at the Lima-based Government Palace. It aims to benefit over 350,000 residents of that province, located in Ica region.

PTAR Chincha

Regarding the PTAR Chincha, Mrs. Boluarte said it is a long-awaited project that will expand and improve wastewater treatment and final disposal services, benefiting the environment, public health, and the population's quality of life in this part of the country.

The project will involve an investment of US$96 million and a 24-year concession period.

It includes the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of 21 kilometers of main collection networks, a pumping station, and 7.7 kilometers of pipelines for the final disposal of treated wastewater.

"This is a project being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership model that we boost to generate well-being and development," Mrs. Boluarte noted.

"It is a public-private initiative because we are aware that 80% of investment is driven by the private sector, and only 20% by the State," she added.

During her speech, the Head of State emphasized that she leads a government open to investment, to joint efforts with the private sector, and to working in close coordination with regional governors, mayors, and civil society who are committed to building a better future for Peru.

"To achieve this, we also need to foster an environment of peace and unity, not one of violence driven by political, ideological, or personal interests," she said.

The President also reported that yesterday, during the 8th Regional State Council held in Loreto region, 240 agreements were reached with the country's regional governors.

She noted that 34 public investment projects defined during these Regional State Councils have been completed, 12 of which belong to the health sector.
