The group of Peruvian citizens evacuated from Israel to safe areas in Egypt have returned to their places of residence or other destinations of their choice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Some departed from the Taba border crossing to Israel, another traveled to Türkiye, and one citizen arrived in Lima, the Peruvian government agency specified on Sunday.

Thanks to the actions carried out by the Ministry during the past weeks of crisis in the Middle East, the evacuation of Peruvian citizens —residents, travelers, or dual nationals— to safe areas was successfully achieved.

Similarly, the Foreign Affairs sector stated that it remains on high alert during this new phase of the ceasefire, through its diplomatic missions in Israel, Türkiye, and Egypt.

"Emergency communication channels will remain active, and the missions will maintain direct contact with the Peruvian citizens who chose to stay in Middle Eastern countries," the Ministry stated.

It also specified that, to provide closer assistance to the community, the Embassy in Türkiye has resumed coordination to deploy an itinerant consulate in Tehran, (Iran), "which will be carried out as soon as security conditions allow."

In that regard, it was stated that the Peruvian community will be informed through the permanent communication channels.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of all Peruvians abroad and stated that it will continue to closely monitor developments in order to take timely and necessary measures.

"Consular assistance and protection are a priority for Peru's foreign policy and will continue to be carried out diligently," it concluded.
