presented the main characteristics of the Peruvian economy to Japanese businesspeople interested in expanding their investment portfolio worldwide.
"I have participated in important meetings organized by the Peruvian-Japanese Business Council (CEPEJA) and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru), attended by various businesspeople interested in our country," he told RPP Noticias on Thursday.
The government official explained that the characteristics of the Peruvian economy were presented in these meetings, including its macroeconomic stability, fiscal and monetary responsibility, among other topics.
"This showed them that Peru is a reliable destination that provides security for investments," he said.
Strong relationship
Minister Perez Reyes underscored that this dialogue takes place within the framework of the solid relationship Peru has with Japan.
"There is a significant group of Japanese companies that have been in Peru for many years," he noted.
The Cabinet member stated that the goal is to encourage more Japanese investors and to increase the flow of their capital into Peru.
"We need to increase the number of companies, particularly in everything related to construction, and Japan has great experience in infrastructure projects," he emphasized.
Economic Partnership
It is worth mentioning that Peru has an Economic Partnership Agreement with Japan, which has been in effect since 2012.
Additionally, Japan is Peru's sixth-largest trading partner worldwide and its third-largest in Asia.
"Along with Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Angel Manero, we have participated in other meetings because one of the objectives of this visit is to open more markets for blueberries, Golden pineapples, and a range of agricultural products that Peru exports," Perez Reyes commented.
The idea is to consolidate the improvement processes of the current framework, especially sanitary measures, so that our products can enter the Japanese market more easily, he added.
